Welcome back and Happy New Year!
Yesterday we had our 11th session, which was our first session this year and our second session that was live-streamed. 😀
This was my one of my favourite classes – we had two teachers: our trusted Tristan Brindle and, another amazing developer, Oliver Ddin.
But before we dive into the first updates and news:
CLion license – if you need a new license for CLion please email me and in the body of the email put your name and email address, then in the subject line please put CLion License.
I will then email you your code. However, for the first 30 days, you can use trial straight from the website.
Existing students – if your license is about to expire or already expired, bear with me Phil is talking to JetBrains to obtain another batch of licenses. As soon as I have it I will email you your new code.
YouTube – the video from our 10th Class is online!!! Please check our channel for all videos.
Our Future classes – I am sorry about changes to the location. I do appreciate that this is creating an issue for some people. I am working towards solving this and I hope to have a solution in the next few days. In the meantime please check our website as I always put the date and address for our sessions there – and please don’t forget to RSVP!
This is very important as we don’t pay for the space or AV, so we have to demonstrate that there are enough people attending our classes.
Reddit – I am very pleased to let you know that we now have our own subreddit, where you can post ideas for projects you want to do and material that you want to learn about.
Please post your ideas and upvote other if you want to learn more about it.
Streaming of our classes – As I have mentioned above yesterday we had our second class that was streamed online and it appears we will be able to stream our classes every week which is amazing.
So if someone for one or another reason is unable to join us now you can participate online!
Our aim is to allow people who are due to work/life are unable to join us.
Additionally we want to attract people who are disabled and are unable to commute.
Plus we want to reach people in other parts of the world.
Our next class will be 16th January 2018 – please RSVP as soon as possible, I should have booking ready in next 1-2 days.
Now about yesterday’s class: Tristan and Oliver explained all about inheritance and how to deal with different scenarios. When to use virtual, and when it is not a very good idea to have a virtual class.
As soon as I have the video for this class I will post it here so please check this post back or log on to our YT account.
Homework – please find Oliver slides and homework here 🙂
